Welcome
Hello my name is Barbara Perrott. I am a graduate of Saint Mary’s University, where I studied Business and majored in Finance. After completing my undergraduate degree, I began working in the financial services industry as a Customer Service Officer with the Business Development Bank of Canada. In this position I was responsible for advancing loan funds to clients. After three years in this position, I was promoted to an Account Manager, in this role I worked with clients and colleagues to write loan proposals. Recognizing that I was interested in pursuing a career which combined my desire to be more creative and my technical and analytical skills, I decided to enroll in the Cartography Diploma program at the Centre of Geographic Sciences and graduated in May 2010. I currently work at Saint Mary's University with Dr. Danika van Proosdij as a GIS Project Manager and manage a number of large cartographic and GIS data collection projects relating to coastal change and erosion.
I love any activity that involves being outdoors; biking, hiking, camping. I also believe that it’s important to be actively involved in the communities we live in and return what we can to the future children who will keep those communities going.
I am excited about the prospect of working in the field of Cartography. I would like to work with an organization that values creativity, integrity of data, and continuous learning opportunities. Within the next 3 to 5 years I would like to develop the management, organizational and people skills needed to lead a team of Cartographers and GIS Technicians to complete a variety of GIS related projects.
This website serves as a digital portfolio of work completed while studying at the Centre of Geographic Sciences as well as professional work completed since graduation.
Enjoy,
Barbara Perrott
